In a nutshell, WIDLIMS is a platform for discussing topics crucial to health which are not taught, glossed over or approached from the wrong angles in medicine and public discourse. The host Linda's knowledge – as a final year medical student – combined with valuable input from guests provides you with accessible and most importantly empowering evidence-based information on topics within the field of lifestyle medicine. In addition, you can expect in-depth mental health discussions, for example when considering body image & disordered eating in diet culture, as well as health inequalities due to variables such as race & gender which affect health behaviours and outcomes. We'll also discuss specific health conditions such as acne, anxiety and anorexia. DISCLAIMER: this podcast is for educational & entertainment purposes only. In this week's episode, host and final year medical student Linda speaks with Anita Jones (Instagram/Twitter) about endometriosis. We discuss why it takes an average of over 7 years to be diagnosed, what needs to change and much more. The discussion provides advice for both people with endo and healthcare professionals from all fields.
The conversation is relevant to other conditions too, as we also discuss how female suffering is often normalized, and how Black women's pain is perceived differently due to medical racism.
